February is Black History month. For Black Americans though, learning about our History spans beyond 28 days. Many of you have inquired about UBMA recommending books by Black authors for us and also for our children, so together we can remain engaged and knowledgable. Hence, we’re thrilled to kick off our UBMA Book Club.
Bi-monthly, we will recommend several books for our community to read. This month’s book recommendation that my 15 year old son and I have selected, read and enjoyed together is New York Times Bestseller ‘Between The World And Me’ by Ta-Nehisi Coates. And for our younger readers, my 10 year old daughter has gleefully selected ‘Little Leaders, Bold Women in Black History’ by Vashti Harrison. This book remains one of her favorites to re-read.
Let’s read and talk together as a community via a virtual discussion about our adult book selection on Sunday March 7th at 6pm EST. *Please don’t worry if you haven’t completed the book; your presence and input is always welcome.
